The First Snow

It snowed yesterday. I was starting to worry that I'd never see snow again. It snowed while the mens were over working on some new Go Home Robot tunes while the ladies and I hung out and knitted. After a hearty dinner of chicken gumbo we sat around the living room talking about possible government and school closures. It was like we were back in grade school, wishing with all our might that he snow doesn't let up and that we would wake up the next day snowed in and glad to stay home. I decided not to take my chances. And in a moment of self indulgence, I contacted work and took the day off. It was an extremely spur of the moment decision in retrospect was partly made to cram as much free time I could before school started Tuesday evening. So today was my very own snow day. I'm glad I did it. I got lots of things accomplished.

Praytell what I did today? I woke up before noon. I stayed in my pajamas. I made a strawberry-blueberry-granola-and-yogurt parfait for breakfast which was scrumptious. I had one of the best cups of coffee ever (I don't know what it is that makes coffee taste so good when your surrounded by snow). I read my email. I looked over the news. I picked up the Jaywalkers in Koigu KPPM which I've been working on and vowed that its completion was my only goal for the day. I took a break and spun some alpaca roving. I had a salted duck egg with rice and tomatoes for lunch. I checked the mail and received the required reading for my Management of Wild Living Resources course entitled From Abundance to Scarcity. I continued to work on the Jaywalkers. I took a break and stained my Ashford Precision Lazy Kate which my brother Patrick gave me for Christmas. I continued on with the Jaywalkers while I watched the A Prarie Home Companion. I finished knitting by the time Mr. Rich got home and grafted the toe after some playtime with the dogs, leftover gumbo for dinner, and packing my lunch for work tomorrow.

I must add that this was probably one of the most gratifying knitted socks I have ever done. The yarn was made for this pattern, and I was destined to knit the yarn in this pattern. Whatever was going on in the cosmic world was working for me and I felt just right...that everything clicked...that everything fit. I'm glad I took this personal snowday. Mission accomplished.

Fred doesn't fare very well when photographed with a flash. He always squints.
