It's a Good Friday

I'm not the religious sort, although born Catholic, but I must say this Good Friday is a pretty good Friday. Firstly, thanks to my thoughtful employer, I got the day off. I slept in longer than I should have (and I'll let you guess until what time I slept till). I had this rare craving for some Chicken McNuggets so I indulged for lunch. I had a great cup of coffee thereafter. And I had a very fruitful visit to the yarn store.

I slept in because I was up late around 1:00am-ish finishing the Streaker's Shrug. And I am proud to say that I have finished my first sweater-thingy ever. Quite proud of myself, a visit to Uniquities Yarn Store was in order to find some inspiration for another sweater-cardi-shruggy-like thingy. I left the store with another shrug pattern from Interweave Knits (The Viennese Shrug from Summer 2005), 5 skeins of yarn, some new #7 circs, some T-pins for blocking, and some Eucalan wool wash to make the Streaker's Shrug softer for wear.

Upon arrival at home, I tidied up my modest stash, wrapped my sister's birthday presents with some yarny embellishments, soaked the Streakers Shrug for about an hour, and now I'm wearing it as I write.

And as i write, I look around me and and feel proud of my accomplishments and works in progress. As I look around more I feel a twinge of guilt for all the other things I've let go to feed this knitting mania i.e. the laundry, the clutter, the dusting, the dog toys strategically placed for maximum damage as one falls from tripping. But the twinge is just a twinge and nothing strong enough to act on.

Congrats on finishing the Streakers shrug - I'll look forward to seeing a photo sometime. Did you use the La Lana? That stuff can be so scratchy!

Here I am again to say the Streakers Shrug looks awesome! I hadn't realised from looking at the photos in the magazine that there was that leafy/viney detail on the arms. Really lovely - you must be thrilled!
