Condensed thoughts

So much time has passed and so many things have occurred that I don't even know where to begin. The end of summer has been a bag of mixed emotions and mixed knitting...

1. Beth and Jimmy tie the knot: a lovely wedding set in rustic Pennsylvania. The leaves and waves shawl was debuted and received many compliments.

2. Eric and Margaret tie the knot: a celebration of how rockin love is. No knitted items were worn, but wedding socks to both the bride and groom were gifted.

3. School is cool. I get a 95% on my first fungi and ecosystem exam.

4. Bad news...our wonderful neighbors Johnny and Becky across the street received a notice that their property is going to be sold to McMansion developers. There is nothing sacred anymore.

5. The completion of spinning a few hundred yards of worsted weight merino to realize I might not have enough to make the planned project, and I don't have any roving to spare to make enough to complete the project.

6. The spinning of some Colonial roving for a hat for Mr. Rich to realize that it's not the right color. Note to self, order something in brown.

7. The receipt of 2 pounds of merino roving in a colorway called Cranberry which should be more than ample to make first handspun, handknitted sweater ever. This better be enough or I'm going to scream.

8. Gorge on sushi dinner before oral surgery.

9. Problem molar on left side, second from the back is extracted. First time I ever went under. Last words I can recall--Dr: "Now you're going to feel really relaxed.", Carmen: "Okay, Woooooooaaaaaah!" Lights out. The weekend was spent swimming in soup and mushy foods, and many attempts of Mr. Rich to find some Kozy Shack Rice Pudding while I floated in and out of a Vicodin stupor. I attempted to knit at first and thought I was quite successful. After checking my work, everything seemed to have moved 5 stitches to the left. I commenced ripping the socks and restarting.

10. Completion of the Jaywalker socks in Cascade Fixation. I just wasn't feeling it with these socks. They look great, I like how they turned out, but the process of knitting (which wasn't abnormally difficult) was for some reason painful. I blame the yarn.

11. Our little Valley neighborhood has disintegrated within 2 weeks, along with the coming of autumn...love ends, things start anew, people make painful decisions to move away, reality has caught up with our little haven and I am sad.

12. Despite our woes we drag our heels to put together a final Halloween party. I think I'll just knit myself a pumpkin hat.

13. Mild rejoicing because I can now eat semi-solid foods. My mouth still hurts.

14. New Colonial Roving in 2 different brown shades arrive--methinks I will blend them to make Mr. Rich's hat. Merino roving in Sage arrives as well--this should be more than ample for my previous attempt to make another shrug project

15. Because my mouth still hurts, I have used this opportunity to quit smoking. Again. And hopefully for the last time. Today is day 12.

16. Gotta start studying for Fungi Exam #2, term paper 1, presentations 1 and 2.

17. Started and completed pumpkin hats. It's ridiculous, you'll see. If I ever have kids they're bound to hate me.

18. Started a sweater for Fred in Noro Kureyon after noticing sweater from last year looks like a teeny muscle shirt on him.

I do have pictures to go with this list. Stay tuned and they shall be posted soon
