The rewards program

Man, I should really get another reward for all the cleaning I got accomplished yesterday. The whole upstairs is spotless. I even scrubbed the tub. Really, cleaning is overrated. But when everything is clean, boy, does life feel good! So we're even steven. I think I paid my dues for the shawl I will make for myself to replace the shawl that I was going to make for myself that I decided during dinner on Friday to bequeath my sister. She will be thrilled on her birthday. And I don't have to worry about her being cold on summer evenings. The Fiber Trends Leaf Socks that made it home with me last minute I'd say is an added bonus and is an extra reward for the awesome cleaning job I accomplished yesterday.

If you haven't noticed...I am a big fan of the rewards program. Here's how it works. It's very simple. Set a goal. Set a reward for reaching the goal--I suppose the worth of the reward should equal the difficulty level of reaching the goal. Attack goal. Reach goal. Get rewarded. Rinse and repeat. Really, it works. It's a great motivator and adds greater meaning to tasks that don't necessarily hold any meaning.

Case in point. Ana has recently accomplished the completion of her field research for her Master's Thesis (though I am not implying that this is a meaningless accomplishment). The reward for said accomplishment was a dinner with friends on Saturday night at Dukem's Ethiopian Restaurant on U Street in DC. The prices were good and the portions generous. Overall the experience was great but the ambience lacked that of Fasika's Ethiopian Restaurant in Adam's Morgan and the combination section in the menu was inundated with numbers requiring the hungry patron to utilize library skills before dinner. Unfortunately Fasika's experienced a fire last November and is currently undergoing rennovations.

I love Fasika's!!! But I didn't know they had a fire, that's awful. (This restaurant has obviously made a real impression on me - seeing as how I haven't even been to DC since 1998!)

"Kitchen Timer System" That is effing genius!! I must dig out my kitchen timer to increase rewards shares. This will totally be implemented in the Rewards Program. Thanks!

meg, I know the Fasika's fire is a real shame. I will be sure to provide a detailed update when it reopens.
