There just isn't enough...

Since I started pursuing my PhD I have very limited time for anything... for knitting, for sleeping, for pissing, for blogging, for cooking, for laundry, you name it I just don't have enough time for it. Hence the lag in my blog posts which is a shame. There has been knitting going on, tons of it, it's just the chronicling of these events that happens with difficulty. So, I will try my best to keep an update, I will try my best to take photos, but I may have to resort to blips and random postings in the next few years. Too bad, so sad.

So, Happy New Year to all. 2007 holds promising knitting adventures. I can feel it my bones.

What has happened since then?

I knitted this scarf as a farewell gift to the receptionist at my office who had been ther for over 30 years! Happy retirement to Miss Barbara!

I spun this from sage colored merino to start a shrug (it's DK weight)

I knitted this scarf from Plymouth Yarn Rimini Rainbow #13 needles. CO 10st. Stst for 2 balls. Super easy, super soft!

This doesn't look like much of a scarf, but the yarn was so weird and cool and slubby that I couldn't help but try. This was gifted to my godmother for Christmas. Trust me, it is a scarf and looks better in person.

Somewhere in the insanity of school and knitting and working Thanksgiving happened.
Brined turkey, based on Alton Brown's Good Eats recipe. You cannot screw this turkey up.

Soon after Thanksgiving, Mr. Rich turned 30! We surprised him with a party and a gorgeous bass guitar: The Fender 60th Anniversary American Precision Bass

Between this time and Christmas, I finished spinning 130 yards of corriedale roving. I blended 2 different colored browns to make what my sister requested a doo-doo brown color. From which I knitted a skinny scarf for her (sadly I did not take pictures). Also in the spinning front, I spun some multi-colored red corriedale roving which I dubbed "Red Delicious" for my mother-in-law who crochets (sadly, I also did not take pictures of this either). If you have not guessed, I was working the knitting and spinning department down to the wire before Christmas. Along with this, I triumphantly completed my first ever pair of fingerless gloves with a mitten cap/cozy for my brother (despairingly, I didn't take pictures of this either). I know. I suck.

Mr. Rich's band, formerly known as the "Replacement Agents" (for like a month), now renamed "Go Home Robot" played a show at the Grog and Tankard in D.C. The new Fender bass was thus debuted. Needless to say, these guys totally rocked!

After Christmas and before New Years, I finished Brooke's socks knit from Cherry Tree Hill's sock yarn. I knit these suckers with size 0 needles. I don't think I'll venture to do a whole lot of that again. Let's just say, I have been working on these socks since the summer.

Today, my last day of vacation before I return to the grind, I finished this simple two-piece scarf made with Classic Elite Bravo Silk and Mohair blend which I named Orange Helix.

So ther is the whirlwind tour of my goings on the past few months. I have an inkling things won't slow down again until Spring Break and then until summer. I will try my best to keep up with blogging, but you know that knitting comes first. Oh, I also forgot to mention another reason why the blogging front may be a bit quiet, I have invested on a Nintendo Wii which I foresee will be consuming my attention before the Spring semester hits.
