Sock Mania
In my quest to get a head start on Christmas (my favorite holiday ever, and I say that without a hint of sarcasm) I went a leeetle crazy with the sock yarn collection (of course with the assumption that everyone's going to want socks, also with the assumption that I am capable of cranking out said socks day and night). It is as if I heard through the grapevine that sock yarns would never ever ever be spun ever again, ever, that the sock sheep out there just up and quit boycotting their destiny, thus causing a twitchy freak out response that resulted in the procurement of a s*&t-ton of sock yarn: 1 ball Cascade Fixation, 3 skeins Cherry Tree Hill, 2 balls Regia Cotton Surf, 6 skeins kntpicks Gossamer (Leprechaun, SweePeas, and Red Hat), 1 ball knitpicks Ballet Dancing. This is not counting 2 skeins of Koigu, 2 balls of Fortissima, and several (mebbe 6 or 7?) perfectly fine left over balls that could easily crank out a few more pairs.
Is it the heat? Do I have a fever? I'm not sure, but the postman must think so because he's been by my house more than twice this week already with packages and it's only Wednesday. The worst part is...that I want to knit them all right now. The even worsest part is (well not really worsest because I do have a choice) that one year exactly after the completion of my MS in Biology, I am going back to school again--this time for a PhD. Yay for edumacation, as my knitting gently weeps in the background. It shouldn't be too bad (sigh). I do miss school, but it has been nice having a full year of stress-free, knit all you want, nap without guilt slothfulness. So maybe it's good I have these sock yarns because they are small, they are portable, and they are easy to knit in a jiffy. Is this wishful thinking? Anywho...if there's anyone out there who has figured out how to read, write, and study while knitting I'm gonna need some of whatever you're taking.
